German nurse 'poisoned babies with morphine'

Image
The woman was taken into custody on Wednesday after investigators found a syringe containing breast milk and traces of morphine in her locker at Ulm University Hospital in southern Germany.   The babies, who were between one day and five weeks old and staying in the same hospital room, all suddenly developed breathing problems "at almost the same time" in the early hours of December 20, Ulm police chief Bernhard Weber said.   "Only because of immediate action taken by the staff could the five lives be saved," he told a press conference.   Doctors do not expect the infants to suffer any lasting harm.   The young nurse taken into custody has yet to be formally charged but faces five counts of attempted manslaughter and grievous bodily harm, Ulm prosecutor Christof Lehr told reporters.   She denies poisoning the babies, he added.   Hospital staff initially suspected the infants had caught an infection, "but this could be rule

US Visa ban: Atiku begs Trump to target Buhari and aides ~ News

Image
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appealed to the President Donald Trump of the United States to reconsider the restriction placed on issuance of immigrant visa to Nigerians and instead punish ‘those in government who have failed in their duties”.   “I call on President Trump to consider adopting measures that individually target those in government who have failed in their duties, rather than target the entire Nigerian population,” he said on Saturday. By Atiku’s recommendation, Buhari and his ministers should be the target of the visa ban.   The Trump administration announced a new regime of visa restrictions which mostly affected those seeking permanent stay in their country on Friday. Apart from Nigeria, five other countries were also affected by the visa policy.   The US said it took the policy out of security concerns.   But while expressing his sadness over the inclusion of Nigeria among the countries affected by the visa restriction, Ati

Guys, See 4 Mistakes To Avoid While Proposing To Your Significant Other

Image
If falling in love is difficult, proposing to the person you love is even more difficult. Most of us grew up watching romantic movies where we see how a guy proposes to his partner or vice versa. However, these ideas on how to propose are sometimes not applicable in real life.   While some gestures might seem romantic to you, the question is, would your partner think it's romantic?     So let's look at some few mistakes that can be avoided while proposing to your love.           Making it a surprise     Well, not everyone likes the idea of a surprise, especially when it comes to the matters of the heart. Whether they like surprises or not should be a major factor to be considered here.   Proposing too soon     Proposing too soon or without any idea about the other person’s feelings is a call to disaster. Alleged leaked video shows off Samsung’s folding Galaxy Z Flip

Image
The video doesn’t show a great deal more than what we’ve already seen in leaked photos and renders — we still can’t tell whether the phone is using a new form of “ultra-thin glass” from Samsung, for example. But if you’ve been wondering how the Z Flip might work out in practice, it may well be of interest. The phone does look like it might be quite a bit easier to slip into a pocket or handbag than pretty much anything else out there — except maybe Motorola’s similar upcoming Razr.   We’re expecting the Galaxy Z Flip to be announced at Samsung’s Unpacked event on February 11th in San Francisco. The main event for that event, however, should be the much-leaked Galaxy S20 flagship smartphone.   Microsoft may earn an Affiliate Commission if you purchase something through recommended links in this article

Facebook pays $550m settlement over illegally-collected facial recognition data

Image
Facebook has agreed to pay $550m to users in Illinois who sued it over its storing of biometric data without consent. This allowed the social network to automatically tag photographs—and to build a vast database of facial recognition data. It also contravenes the state's privacy laws, reports the BBC:   The case has been ongoing since 2015, and the settlement was announced in its quarterly earnings. It comes as facial recognition use by the police, and in public spaces, comes under intense scrutiny. The lawsuit against Facebook was given the go-ahead in 2018 when a federal judge ruled it could be heard as a class action (group) case. The appeals court disagreed with Facebook's attempts to stop this, and in January the Supreme Court also declined to review its appeal.     Facebook made the facial recognition feature opt-in a few months after the state Supreme Court left them on the hook.   Mike Isaac at The New York Times reports a "major victory

Paul Pogba ‘tells Man Utd team-mates he wants to quit this summer with top stars BACKING his decision’

PAUL POGBA has told his Manchester United team-mates he is pushing for a summer exit and has their support, according to reports.    The Frenchman, 26, has started just six games this season after battling injury and his agent Mino Raiola has criticised the backroom setup at Old Trafford. Real Madrid and Juventus have maintained a long-term interest in Pogba, who has not played since December, as they look for the right time to swoop.   And the Manchester Evening News claims that the superstar midfielder has already informed the dressing room that he is keen to move on.   Their report adds that "the majority of United players want him to leave for the benefit of the dressing room."   Raiola has been outspoken in his criticism of Pogba's employers - claiming that even Pele or Maradona would struggle there.   But the Italian agent did come out in support of Ed Woodward after thugs threw flares at the bigwig's house.   Pogba is under

‘We are older’ – Guardiola laughs off calming of Mourinho rivalry

Image
Pep Guardiola paid tribute to Jose Mourinho as he admitted the pair’s rivalry had simmered down.   The Manchester City boss comes up against his old adversary as he takes his side to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.   Guardiola and Mourinho fought out some intense duels during their times as managers of Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.   That rivalry was expected to reignite when they both moved to Manchester clubs in 2016 but, in the period leading up to Mourinho’s sacking at United in Deember 2018, it was noticeably less ferocious.   “I’m sorry for you!” Guardiola told media at a press conference to preview this weekend’s game. “I know you were looking forward (to it) but I’m sorry. Maybe we are older and more experienced.   “Every time when we played when he was at United, always the people weren’t talking about how we are going to play or how he is going to play, or who was going to win.   “It was just about my press conference
